Verified Gross Mass (VGM) - Process to Submit eVGM & FAQ's

The Verified Gross Mass (VGM) is the weight of the cargo including dunnage and bracing plus the tare weight of

the container carrying this cargo. SOLAS requires the shipper to provide VGM in a “shipping document,” either as

part of the shipping instruction or in a separate communication before vessel loading.

Steps to Submit VGM on the Swire Shipping Website:

Swire Shipping has developed an electronic solution to support a paperless and convenient submission for VGM.

1. Customers can enter the eVGM screen at https://www.swireshipping.com/ in the following ways:

• Shipment Dashboard

• Footer of the Website

• My Dashboard (User Dashboard)

2. User will be directed to a submit VGM dashboard. From here, users can submit VGM from a list of bookings, or

via new submission (top right).

a) Submit with eBooking

• In the dashboard, view a list of available bookings
• Click Submit VGM
• The booking # will be pre-populated on the VGM screen
• Users can select Manual or Excel entry
• Submitter information will be pre-populated based on the eBooking.

b) Submit without eBooking:

• In the VGM dashboard, click on the +Submit VGM button on the top left and input an active booking #.

c) Submit Manually

• Users can then enter VGM details manually, including:
  • Container Number
  • Container type “Size”
  • VGM weight
  • Method of calculation (1/2)
  • Date verified
• Users can then verify the submitter party information or fill it in before submitting
• User can submit VGM only after the declaration has been checked
• User will then be prompted to confirm submission as no edits are allowed later

3. A VGM reference will be generated once submitted, and: VGM appears on the VGM Dashboard.

4. Email confirmation sent to the user with Subject: - Swire Shipping: Your VGM Submission Summary –

Declaration ID XXXXX.
